Boys Junior Varsity Water Polo, Boys Varsity Water Polo · RAMONA WATER POLO WINS 4 IN A ROW!!!

What a difference a year makes.  The teams that Ramona Water Polo have played so far this season were teams that “smashed on” the Rams last year.  That sentiment was carried over by teams assuming they could do it again this season.  Not this year.  The Rams hot start can be attributed to stability at the coaching staff with 5 Time League Champion Coach, Coach Banister, and new addition to Boys, Coach Hulme, who won a League Championship on the girls side last year.  Both coaches have a been working side by side with the team over the last year, and it is clearly demonstrated with the way the team is playing.  After losing their first game of the season to CIF DIV 6 6th Ranked JW North, the Rams have been on a tear.  The team has beat every team that easily beat them last year and are hungry for more.  On Thursday, they will take on West Valley High School in Hemet.  When asked what he believed is the reason for success so far, Coach Hulme said, “What we are doing here is not about the “W”.  We are really trying to motivate the athletes to believe that they belong against all these other amazing teams we are facing off against.  We are trying to embody an environment that is positive while helping the players grasp an understanding of personal accountability to their teammates.”  Coach Banister affirmed that sentiment, “Here at Ramona we have a certain philosophy and way of doing things.  There have been a lot of positive changes this past year in our team and all of our players are selflessly playing for each other rather than worry about individual play.  If we focus working with each other, then the success is just a by product of all our efforts.  It is our process here at Ramona, and we are looking forward to seeing where that takes us the rest of the season.”
